Caring for Honolua Bay is everyone's kuleana.
Maui Land & Pineapple Company (ML&P) is dedicated to the value of mālama‘aina (caring for the land) as expressed through our conservation and community stewardship programs.
The Pu‘u Kukui (Hawaiian for "Hill of Light") Watershed Preserve is one of ML&P's greatest initiatives. Encompassing over 8,300 acres of Mauna Kahalawai, or the West Maui Mountains, it is the largest private nature preserve in the state of Hawai‘i which contributes to our over 11,600 acres of conservation land.
Read more about Pu‘u Kukui at ML&P's web site.
The Company's makai program, which began with the 1978 dedication of Honolua Bay and Mokule‘ia Bay as marine life conservation areas, monitors the coastline and coral reef ecosystems that provide recreation and sustenance for Maui's visitors and residents.
All Company initiatives integrate the conservation management of the Preserve to ensure the health of the surrounding area and its communities for current and future generations.
